My passion is people. I want to help people reach their FULL potential, especially those that haven’t been set up for success. Let’s get you set up.

I’ve worked with interviewers and interviewees in the tech industry. Here are some of the components that interviewers use to grade the coding interview.

What is a “General Coding Interview”?

Most tech companies and plenty of non-tech companies use a general coding interview somewhere in their hiring process for engineers. This often looks like a meeting focused on you solving one or two algorithmic problem-solving questions (a la LeetCode) in a timed environment with an engineer as your interviewer.

A general coding interview isn’t a system design interview, it isn’t a data science interview, and it isn’t a frontend, mobile, or any other specialized engineering interview…

I’m getting ahead of myself; let’s back up and talk about what Campus Hiring is and…

Here’s the difference:

A couple of days ago I got a notification from my application tracking system (ATS) at work. A candidate I previously interviewed had a new interview scorecard in; this was one of my favorite candidates. He was a Black mobile engineer, a new grad, and a candidate with a crazy amount of potential. He was passionate about what he does, eager to learn, and loved our company and mission. He would add something special to our culture.

Hiring should be all about bringing on people that add to your company’s culture, not those that just fit into the one that’s…

Today, I had a one on one meeting with the Head of Diversity and Inclusion for my company. She is part of the leadership team of a tech company with hundreds of millions of monthly active users across the world. She works with a global team spanning from China to Brazil and back up to Mountain View, CA on diversity, a new initiative for a new company. To make a long story short, she is a busy lady.

Our meeting today was going to be about a few things, all D&I-related. I’ve been at the company less than 90 days…
